At Grove Villa, children feel safe, supported and free to learn. We celebrate the skills of every baby and young child in our care, and we place a strong emphasis on learning through play, recognising each child’s individual abilities. We regularly head out into nature and work alongside our local community to promote respect, diversity and inclusion.

Independence, Confidence & Exploration

Independence

Independence in young children helps build self-reliance, confidence and school readiness skills. Grove Villa provides predictable routines for the children such as hanging coats up on arrival and pouring their own water into a cup. We give plenty of room for trial and error and celebrate effort rather than the perfect result. This approach is how young children discover they are capable of navigating the world on their own.

Confidence

Confidence is the foundation of a child's well-being and future success. At Grove Villa we help to build confidence by praising the effort, not the outcome, giving children meaningful responsibilities, allowing children room to make mistakes, encouraging choice making and by modelling confident behaviour.

Exploration

Exploration is essential for young children for lifelong learning, independence and resilience. At Grove Villa we help to inspire children's love of the outdoors which helps to enhance physical development, emotional self-regulation and confidence and creativity. Our 'Exploration' ethos also helps children to evaluate risks, to reduce anxiety, learn about the natural and human world around them. They also explore together and in collaboration with their peers to develop important social skills such as turn-taking, negotiation and collective problem solving.
